We Signed w/ Underdog. Here's What It Means

We Signed w/ Underdog. Here’s What It Means.

Dear readers,

If you are reading this, you have an interest in Snapback Sports or Jack Settleman

The History

In 2020, I was working for Whistle Sports. While building Snapback on the side, our world was shook with Covid. Sports shut down and my role with Whistle became less clear. A blessing in disguise as WFH greatly accelerated SBS.

In early 2021, I decided to leave Whistle Sports and pursue SBS full-time. It was the right time and a major part of that was in thanks to our pending partnership with Underdog Fantasy. I was financially free.

The Fantasy and Sports Betting Industry

DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field

Unless you live under a rock, it’s hard to miss how sports have been taken over by the real-$ gaming industry. From commercials, to league partners, to your favorite content being sponsored by some company in the industry. Also, we’ve recently seen the scandals of Jontay Porter and Shohei Ohtani.

But what people don’t recognize is how sports gambling and fantasy sports are helping grow the sports industry. I thought Pablo Torre’s viewpoint on how his partnership with DraftKings allows him to stick to his journalistic integrity was a very great point.

We at Snapback Sports, look at it in a very similar way. The industry successfully funds our content that we want to bring to the next generation of sports fans. From podcasting with Marlon Humphrey to traveling the world bringing you guys interesting sports content, without the gaming industry, none of this would be possible.

*Note: I also do enjoy having action on a game. I think it makes it more interesting and I enjoy a good sweat.

We aren’t trying to become a sports gambling MEDIA company but rather we try and be at the intersection of what sports fans are doing & that includes playing for real money.

The Deal

By now you have likely seen our announcements on social media about us coming to terms with Underdog on a multi-year deal.

I am very excited to continue building with Underdog. By the end of this new deal, we will have worked with them for 6 years!! Unprecedented in our industry.

While my excitement is high for our relationship with them, I am writing this to y’all to share our future plans for Snapback Sports.

3 Year Plan

We have already hired a Head of Operations (Sean Johnson) and a Head of Betting Content (Alex Uplinger) since agreeing to the deal. We are also going to be hiring a Graphics/Short Form Editor, a social media Manager, and Talent to add more characters to our brand.

Over the next 3 years, we will develop and grow 3 additional verticals with this funding. Snapback Bets, Snapback University and Snapback Gaming while continuing to grow the overall Snapback Sports platforms.

The vision is simple. Snapback Sports is a media company. We have Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Twitter for each platform. Our SBS socials now reach over 2M+ fans. Now it is time to grow these 3 verticals in the same fashion.

Once we grow these verticals to a solid social following, we are able to monetize them in a variety of ways. Advertising, SuperFam (our membership), Partnerships, Merchandise (new hats on the way), Content Monetization and Events.

We could not be more thrilled about this partnership and growing alongside Underdog over the next 3 years. They even let me keep my cool title - The Head of Winning. We also know this deal will do major things for the Snapback Fam. We’ve already given away $100,000 but there’s so much more to come.

Best,

JS
