I’m a big fan of goal setting but you have to be a good goal setter. 

Too many people set too low of goals.

They’re called reasonable goals.

The best way to goal set is to shoot for the stars.

It reframes your mindset and gives you something aspirational to strive for. 

Example: 

Realistic goal: I want to workout 4 days a week

Stretch goal: I want to workout 7 days a week. 

Which goal do you think is more likely to lead you to working out 5 days a week? 

A failed stretch goal. 

I write this long lede (that’s what the writers tell me it’s called) to introduce what I see a ton of in sports (and life). 

Poor goal setting.
